A construction site owner hired a convicted felon straight out of jail as part of a lower-tax-for-hiring a-felon incentive program. Still, the man was a little sketchy, as the felon had been in jail for robbery---so he asked the night watchman to keep his eye on the new worker.

The first day the convicted felon came to work, a pregnant woman in a beat up Chevy dropped him off, and 3 small children were also in the car. The security guard saw this, and felt sorry for the guy, but knew he had to still report him if he saw any illegal activity going on.

That night, as the convicted felon turned construction worker was picked up by his pregnant wife and kids, the security guard saw him pushing a wheelbarrow down to the Chevy, and having his oldest son help him put the wheelbarrow in the car then drive off into the night.

The security guard felt sorry for the man, having to feed such a large family and having a record, so decided to forget about the incident. But the next night, he saw the man, when work was done, push a wheelbarrow down to the car where his family was waiting to pick him up, then with the help of his oldest son, once again put the wheelbarrow in the car and drive off.

This activity continued for three weeks, and finally the guard called the man aside and said, "Look, I know you have a record, and I know you have a family to feed, but I cannot keep on letting you rob from us. I see you going home every night, I know what is going on! I have to know. What are you stealing from us?"

The felon responded, "Wheelbarrows!"

jc19euPhotograph: How odd people still quibble whether people who are gay make good soldiers, when the greatest military genius of all time, Alexander the Great, was gay (portrayed here in this picture by Colin Farrell (r) with his lover Hephaestion, played by Jared Leto (l) in Oliver Stone's "Alexander")

Me: What is a gay soldier going to do, say, "That guy is too hot to shoot!"

The greatest military genius of all time was a gay man,
Alexander the Great. Come on and drop the ban, this study shows gays in the military pose no threat to unit cohesiveness.

From the page: "The study was conducted by four retired military officers, including the three-star Air Force lieutenant general who in early 1993 was tasked with implementing President Clinton's policy that the military stop questioning recruits on their sexual orientation.

"Evidence shows that allowing gays and lesbians to serve openly is unlikely to pose any significant risk to morale, good order, discipline or cohesion," the officers states."

From the page: July 6th, 2008: New York Times Vacation Suggestions: Pittsburgh...yes, we said Pittsburgh

PITTSBURGH has undergone a striking renaissance from a down-and-out smokestack to a gleaming cultural oasis. But old stereotypes die hard, and Pittsburgh probably doesn't make many people's short list for a cosmopolitan getaway. Too bad, because this city of 89 distinct neighborhoods is a cool and -- dare I say, hip--city.

Me: As I was flying over downtown today, I thought, "objectively...no one can say this city is not breathtaking"

The New York Times sings the praises of Pittsburgh as a vacation spot, yes, Pittsburgh...so come visit me! Thanks to hometown girl
